Managing a Project

The following steps must be taken to successfully manage an information technology (IT) project once funding is identified and appropriated.

Step 1: Engage the DoIT OPM and commence oversight activities

Step 2: Begin planning the solution and identifying the high level milestones

Step 3: Develop a Task Order Request for Proposals, or other means of procuring resources as needed. if utilizing contracted resources, include a Scope of Work for contracted products and/or services

Step 4: Onboard the project team to develop capabilities and features for the implementation.

Step 5: Manage the implementation, prioritize work, remove impediments, and deliver value through iterative development

Step 6: Complete the project
