Statewide Radio System

This Division promotes and supports interoperable communications throughout the State of Maryland between State agencies and with county/local, bordering States and Federal public safety agencies. The Division also advises State agencies on planning, acquisition, and operation of radio systems; and provides radio frequency coordination to State and local governments. The Statewide Radio System Division supports three programs:

  • Maryland FiRST (First Responders Interoperability Radio Systems Team) 700 MHz Public Safety Land Mobile Radio System
  • FirstNet Broadband/LTE Public Safety program
  • Emergency Support & Business Continuity program

 

Services

Maryland FiRST Statewide Radio System ​Maryland FiRST is a Statewide P25 Phase II 700 MHz Land Mobile Radio (LMR) system used by public safety officials and first responders.
FirstNet ​FirstNet is a Federal project for providing broadband/LTE cellular service to first responders. The cellular service will provide prioritization, preemption and quality of service capabilities to public safety users. DoIT acts as Maryland's Single Point of Contact (SPOC) and advocate for public safety to FirstNet.
Emergency Support & Business Continuity program ​Supporting the Maryland Emergency Management System (MEMS), DoIT is the Lead State Agency (LSA) for the Electronic Infrastructure State Coordinating Function (SCF). Business Continuity: This role deals with the development, coordinating, maintenance, updating, training and exercising of DoIT's Continuity of Operations (COOP) plan and Disaster Recovery (DR) plans.
