Web Standards

The Website Standards provides guidelines and agency web standards including templates, search, widgets, language translation, and accessibility guidelines. This service also provides DNS Governance and approval of all maryland.gov and maryland.gov subdomains.

Eligible: All state agencies

  • Templates for agency web sites in HTML, Dreamweaver, ASP.NET, SharePoint, and WordPress versions.
  • Assistance with template implementation and page design
  • Language translation widget for agency sites.
  • Recommended accessibility testing tools, training, NonVisual Access guidelines, and web site compliance checklist.


State Website Guidelines

DNS Services
DNS Governance and approval of all maryland.gov​ subdomains.

The following attributes pertain to the DNS Services:

Service Level Objective (SLO): 99.5%

Availability (Uptime): 99.5%

Eligible: All state agencies.

Standard Support Hours: 8:00AM – 5:00PM, Monday – Friday.

Exceptions:The Service Desk is not available during State Holidays or Service Reduction Days

Response (to incident) Time: Based on priority.

Resolution (of incident) Time: Based on priority.

Maintenance Windows: Sat/Sun 12:00am – 6:00am (excluding holidays).

Security: DNS Security Extensions (DNSSEC)

Business Critical Service: Yes; Recovery Time – 4 hours
